In a world of chaos, I take each day to observe the dynamic environment that surrounds me and channel this into painting. I am inspired by all the places I have adventured and called home. Like other artists, I've gone through a lot of unique experiences and this form of expression has been imperative for my survival. I've been painting for over a decade.
Raw energy and vibrant colors give way to subtle light and technical compositions. Sometimes I drip the paint to represent the diminishing wild lands to remind the viewer that nothing is permanent.
I paint mostly in oils but venture off and paint large murals when I have the opportunity. In order to achieve the depth and the variation of color in my art, I paint multiple thin layers, shifting focus to other work while each layer dries. This process gives me a chance to step away from pieces where I feel stuck, or that I may be overworking. When I return to the canvas, I bring a new perspective.
While I am lucky enough to live in a body that takes me places and am equipped with a mind that can process nature’s beauty, I am troubled by what our own species has done to a world that has given us so much. I look forward to future exploration and continuing to develop the way in which I tell my story for others to enjoy.
